REVIEW! DIY Bacon and Syrup Pancake Stack

Just over a year ago I went to Frankie and Benny's and for the first time I tried a Bacon and Syrup Pancake Stack. I was completely smitten with this combination and have been experimenting with my own version ever since.

I present to you, in my opinion the best 3 products to make this delicious breakfast.

The Pancakes:Tesco Maple Syrup Pancakes
First up is Tesco's Maple Syrup pancakes. I am far too lazy to make my own and I would never get them as good as these. They come in a 6 pack, sadly I can't remember the price but they weren't expensive. It is also worth noting that there are other flavours in the range such as Banoffee and Blueberry. They are big American style pancakes which you can heat up in the toaster or just bung them on the grill for a few minutes. They are fluffy and the maple flavour is delicious.

The Bacon: Tesco Finest British Oak Smoked Dry Cure Steaky Bacon
I've eaten a lot of bacon in my 29 and 3/4 years and my personal favourite is Tesco Finest British Oak Smoked Dry Cure Steaky Bacon. It is £2.99 for 16 rashers but you can currently get 2 packets for £5. I find that the smoked flavour really works well with the maple syrup.

The Syrup: Clarks Original Maple Syrup
Clarks Original Maple Syrup is apparently the UK's best selling maple syrup and it's easy to see why, it is very tasty. A 180g bottle cosst £1.98 from Tesco. It is a blend of pure maple syrup from Quebec and carob fruit syrup and is quite thick in consistency which is good as I want it sticking to my bacon rather than running off the side of the plate!

All this put together and you have a pretty epic breakfast!

If you have not tried this combination, you simply have to give it a go!

  1. Wow that looks like one delicious breakfast! I've only ever tried this on holiday in the US too, but it's a great idea to make it at home. Yummy!
