REVIEW! Ritter Sport Coconut Macaroon

Ritter Sport Coconut Macaroon

Thank you once again to Katherine at Grocery Gems who sent me another awesome chocolate bar recently.  This Ritter Sport Coconut Macaroon chocolate bar has been another one that I have had difficulty finding but have been desperate to try since I reviewed Ritter Sport White Coconut bar (another bar sent from Katherine) back in November.

Ritter Sport Coconut Macaroon

Coconut Macaroon was released by German chocolate makers Ritter Sport for Christmas 2012 along with 2 other flavours; Dark Praline Cream and Caramel Almonds.  It is made from the standard Ritter Sport milk chocolate and contains pieces of coconut macaroon and crispy rice.

I was surprised at how much this bar smelt of coconut, even more so than the White Coconut bar; I opened it to take some photos and left it on the side and could still smell it even though I was sat a foot or so away.

Ritter Sport Coconut Macaroon

Ritter Sport milk chocolate is always good in my opinion, is it smooth and creamy and excellent quality.  The filling was absolutely gorgeous, it too was creamy and very sweet.  As well as the coconut it also tasted of vanilla and I would agree with Katherine's review, there is definitely a hint of biscuit in there too from the macaroon pieces.  I couldn't really taste the crisp rice pieces but I assume that they were in there for texture more than anything.

Verdict
Coconut Macaroon has to be my favourite Ritter Sport to date.  I didn't think anything would beat the White Chocolate Coconut bar but I just loved the filling on this one.  Thanks again to Katherine and don't forget to check out her review of this bar here.

  1. I love the sound of this, I really wish Ritter Sport bars were more widely available over here. I'm so jealous of all the great sounding flavours they get in Germany.

    1. Me too, I hardly ever see the stuff, Aldi sometimes has it and I've seen the odd bar in small newsagents. I am surprised because I am sure it would do well here.

  2. Hannah- I'm so glad you enjoyed this bar! I was also surprised that I preferred it to the White Chocolate Coconut, I thought that was delicious enough, but the coconut macaroon filling is just divine!

Kev - I know, there are so many Ritter flavours that I'd love to try. They seem to pop up in the most random places though. I found this one in a local post office/newsagent and my brother found the one he bought me in a London tube station shop.
