REVIEW! Bud Light Lime Lime-A-Rita
I don't really like many beers but one of the few that I do like is Bud Light Lime. It is much sweeter than normal beer and very refreshing but sadly this is another thing that we miss out on in the UK. We do have Carling Zest but it is just not as nice!
Anyway, on my recent trip to Orlando I found this drink from Bud Light called Lime-A-Rita. I gather it came out earlier this year and is described as "a refreshing ready-to-drink Margarita with a twist of Bud Light Lime".
Lime-A-Rita is 8% ABV and this can is a pint. I was a bit baffled at first, is this a beer or is this a margarita? On the can it says that it is a malt beverage with natural flavours and caramel colour added. Now I know a Margarita is made with tequila so I was thinking that it would be something along the lines of a Desperados. For those of you that are not familiar with Desperados, it is a beer that is flavoured with tequila. Looking at the picture on the can, it is of a normal looking Margarita which looks nothing like beer...all very confusing.
When I opened the can it did smell of beer and lime, unsurprisingly just like Bud Light Lime, but more limey. I poured the drink into a glass (I am not a tramp so drinking out of the can is out of the question), and discovered that it looked like a very pale shandy.
Lime-A-Rita does not taste anything like a shandy however, it is much, much sweeter and tastes more like an alcoholic lemonade but with a slight bitterness from the lime and a very slight hint of beer. It's actually very nice, quite refreshing and very easy to drink.
I enjoyed Bud Light Lime Lime-A-Rita and for a premixed drink I was quite impressed. Sadly I only brought one of these back in my suitcase but if they ever decide to bring this to the UK I will definitely be buying more!
